Swimming with your Baby When can you take your baby swimming? According to the NHS it is at your discretion when you want to introduce swimming to your little one. This can be before they are vaccinated. If you go to a private pool, ensure that there is more than one adult for support and safety reasons. Always have a mobile in reach and ensure the pool is in line with safety measurements. I first took my little one when she was 10 weeks old to a private pool. At this point she had had one vaccine and was really enjoying her baths. I wanted to introduce swimming in a quiet environment before booking her in for swim classes. We started off in the pool exploring the water by lifting her in and out and going around on her back and upright.
